New York Game Awards 2024 Recap!

Hello Everyone!

This past Tuesday, January 23rd, Marc and I attended the New York Game Awards hosted by the New York Videogame Critics Circle for our nomination of Outer Terror.  It was an inspiring night for us. Seeing the efforts of those like Harold Goldberg and Ryan O’Callaghan pushing game development forward in New York City was truly motivational. During the evening, it was mentioned that the awards were originally hosted in a flat in Williamsburg, Brooklyn 13 years ago. Seeing how much the event had grown gave me hope for the future of New York Gaming.

Reflecting on Outer Terror, I’m very proud of what we were able to accomplish. I find myself reflecting on the hard work Brandon Rodriguez (Salt & Pixel) put into the game, and am proud to say that I helped bring that product to life.

We might be a scrappy few, but all of our collective bits and pieces made for a satisfying final product. There are a few key players that helped bring the game to life that I feel I’ve underappreciated. Specifically Joe Roman (Chito) who did the character art, and Cori Branch who created the music for the game. Without all of our collective hard work, there’s no way the game would have come out the way that it did.

Although we didn’t take home the prize, I was thrilled that our game was up there alongside all the greats from gaming last year. To even be mentioned in the same night as games like Baulder’s Gate 3, Pikmin 4, and of course the winner of our category Slay the Princess, was a distinct honor of its own.

Outer Terror is an anthology series of stories of Horror. In many ways, VoxPop has been an anthology series of its own.

With so many different stories to be told from our short existence. With that being said, I cannot wait for the next story. I’m very excited to see what 2024 has to offer!

Thank You,
